What We Leave Behind [Through My Lens Nr.44]

It's interesting to observe how things change around us. Some changes creep up on us, others we anticipate, but no matter which ones happen to us, change is inevitable. Over longer periods of time, changes can be earth shattering. Exploring places where time has taken a toll on buildings and structures is both exciting and melancholic. This fortress of King Herceg-Stjepan is a perfect example of it.

  4. It is amazing to see how old buildings have stood the test of time. And for an Australian with no buildings older than 200 years, it is fascinating to see old buildings in Europe. They are great places to wander through. The castles in particular look rather gloomy drafty places! Have a fabulous week and thank you again for the link up.

  6. Great photos of interesting views! There is prosperity and declining in the structure’s history. When there is no human maintenance, nature takes over.

  8. Hello Mersad.

I love historical architecture. I always love to wonder at all the secrets their walls may contain. The stories they could tell if only they could talk. That last photo of the valley is stunning. Like a glimpse into another world.

  33. I love old ruins that ring of an interesting, if not exciting, past time. If only we could know what went on inside those walls. It amazes me that things were built that could last so very many years. What we build today, I fear, would fall to the huff and puff of the big bad wolf. Beautiful pictures, Mersad ...
